Cirque School

Can I do this if I am afraid of heights?
We should mention that we keep all the equipment relatively close to the ground at first and you will not be flying through the air on a swinging trapeze…that comes later. We were all a little nervous because it looks terribly complicated, but, Aloysia creates a real air (pun intended) of safety and until you are really comfortable, you stay very close to the ground. That when you make a mistake, all you have to do is put your foot on the ground – being upside down is supposed to be fun, not dangerous.

I’ve never done anything like this before. Do I have to be a gymnast to do aerial arts?
Most people who try this have never done anything like it before. We’ve found there are three types of people who want to sign up for class: those who have never done anything like this before; those who “used to be athletic”; and those who have been hunting for a place to hang their own trapeze for a long time. We cater to all three. Aloysia recommends working on your pull-ups (which you will do in class, of course), since you’ll be hoisting yourself up a lot.

Can I wear a costume?

We will kill the man that stops you, however, we don’t supply them.

What to wear?

Wear leggings that cover the backs of your knees, so you can go upside-down more comfortably.

What not to do?

don't eat a heavy meal before class. You will be upside down a lot, and will regret it. ;)
