2.
Single Level
If you have missed part of
a previous training program or would like
to review a specific level, you may select
this option pending instructor approval.
Included are:
The lectures for that level
The anatomy lectures included in that level
Three labs for that level
Studio time for Apprenticeship Study - See "Apprenticeship" below
You will be expected to complete the 66 hours per level and the practical exam
3. Lecture Series
All lectures will be open to certified Pilates instructors
or serious students with a letter of recommendation
and instructor approval only. You may attend
as many or as few lectures as you would
like.
Apprenticeship
Each student will be required to complete
a minimum of 330 hours of study in addition
to the lectures and lab sections outlined
above.
The breakdown is as follows:
18 workouts per level - |
90 hours |
30 hours of observation per level - |
150 hours |
18 hours of practice teaching per level - |
90 hours |
|
66 hours per level |
330 hours total |
You must have already completed at least 44
of the 66 minimum required hours per level
in order to move on to the next level. That
being said, we encourage you to try to complete
the required 66 per level to stay on track.
This may seem like a lot of time (and we know
how full your life is already!) but, it is
actually very manageable ... averaging 11 hours
a week. Just to help you visualize what your
schedule may look like, here is a sample schedule
for a person who works 9 to 5:
Monday: 6pm - 8pm, one hour practice teaching, one hour self workout |
Tuesday: 6pm - 8pm, two hours observation |
Wednesday: 6pm - 8pm, one hour practice teaching, one hour self workout |
Thursday: 6pm - 9pm, three hours observation |
Friday: 6pm - 8pm, one hour practice teaching, one hour self workout |
Total hours for the week: 11 hours |
After passing the Level II test, all teacher
trainees will be able to teach at Absolution
at a reduced rate. This is not required, but
it is encouraged. Trainees will be paid $15.00
per hour for a private session and $20.00
per hour for a duet. Your clients will know
you are in the Teacher Training Program and
will be paying a reduced rate. You might even
find that this is one of the most rewarding
parts of your regime!
Prerequisites
Like any new skill, the beginning is often
the hardest part. Gears need to shift. You
have to be willing to be wrong and to fail
in order to learn from your mistakes. We are
fragile when we begin a new skill, and sometimes
we put undue pressure on ourselves to "be
perfect" and "get it all right the first time".
To prevent this needless worry and stress
we HIGHLY recommend that you complete 10 to
30 hours of personal training with one of
our teachers prior to the start of the certification
program. If you are studying Pilates elsewhere,
you may have already met this recommendation.
If, for some reason, you are unable to spend
time familiarizing yourself with Pilates and
the Pilates Method of exercise before starting
our program, please speak with one of the
Course Directors so that, together, we can
ensure that you will not feel overwhelmed
and anxious as the program progresses.
Keep in mind - you may also begin accumulating
your required observation hours as soon as
you enroll in the program.
